Constitution

Adopted by the International Borzoi Council at the 2005 Mesquite, Texas, USA Conference.

The International Borzoi Council is a union of people working for the promotion of the Borzoi world wide.

Membership is applied for to the Council Board. Membership commences when the application is approved by the Board and the due is paid.

Membership ceases if dues are not paid or if a member in a serious international way is damaging to the Council or Borzoi breed.

A council meeting is to be convenes by the Board or by more than two thirds of the membership.

The committee consists of: Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, 2 Board members.

The minimum numbers of Committee members at a meeting to be valid is 3. The committee serves from one Conference to the next.

At the meeting the following should occur:

  1. Call and adjustment of the membership register
  2. Election of two tellers (scrutineers)
  3. Board report of progress during the last period
  4. Treasurer’s report
  5. Determine dues for the coming period
  6. Election of officers
  7. Election of committee (board) members
  8. Any other business
  9. Two members to be auditors from one meeting to the other

The board handles the committee’s affairs by:

  1. Preparing items for the next meeting
  2. Carries out the decisions made at the members meeting
  3. Accounts for the Club’s income and expenditure

Any proposed alteration or amendment to the Constitution must be printed in a Newsletter at least 12 months prior to the conference. Any change to the Constitution will need the support of at least two thirds of the members attending the conference. Postal voting will be allowed.

Membership meetings will normally be held every three years in conjunction with a conference.

All Borzoi Clubs around the world are to be sent copies of the Newsletters and asked to forward copies of their journals/magazines in return.

Borzoi Clubs are allowed membership to the Council with non-voting rights.

One time lifetime membership fee of $30 to join.
